BRAINTREE District Athletic Club's triple jump and long jump lady members had a successful day competing for their school's North West Essex team at Chelmsford.

Holly Field added to her progressive athletic achievements by claiming silver in the Intermediate Girls' Triple Jump.

She recorded a total three stage jump of 10.25 metres, her second best jump of the season.

In only her second season at this level, this fine young lady athlete has shown her advancing triple jump ability by taking the Indoor Essex County silver medal and the Eastern Counties bronze medal, before coming out early in the Outdoor season by taking the Essex County Outdoor triple jump bronze.

Hannah Smith won bronze in the Intermediate Girls Long Jump with a jump of 5.11m, just nine centimetres behind her personal best (PB) of 5.20m for the season.

The conclusion that she went over 5m in four progressive jumps shows that her own consistent progress is getting better, as the season advances.

It was an unfortunate day for another Braintree jumper Kate Shepard, who had to settle for fourth place after achieving a PB of 4.88m in her first season in this age group.

With the Eastern Counties Athletics meet at Peterborough only a few weeks away, the Braintree trio have a good chance of standing on the winners' podium once more.
