A SUPERB century from Robert Jagger drew praise from Coggeshall Cricket Club skipper George Blackwell as his team recorded their third Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one win in a row.

Their game at Mistley ended with Coggeshall on top as Jagger's 101 from 107 balls led their reply to the Swans' 212 for seven in an eight-wicket win that moved the Harefield side up to seventh in the top-flight table.

Blackwell was delighted with the result that kept their winning run going and hailed the impact by Jagger at the top of Coggeshall's order.

He said: "It was a good result and it was important to keep the momentum going.

"Mistley have been one of those sides over the years that we have always had a great rivalry with and generally close fought games so to go there and perform how we did was great to see.

"We were very happy with the score Mistley had posted and I was confident but we all knew we still had to finish the job and bat sensibly to get the win and that we did.

"It was a great knock from Robert and it was great to see.

"Robert, for me, is one of the best openers in the league; he plays proper cricket shots and is very quick between the wickets.

"He puts a lot of pressure on himself to do well but when he relaxes and plays how he did on Saturday he gets his rewards. for us its important to build partnerships and that was good to see too.

"Robert was supported well by both Charlie Green and George Hanham, who both too are threatening to post a big score.

"Confidence is high and we are playing good cricket.

"Everyone is contributing in some way and I'm lucky to have lots of different options for different scenarios."

Coggeshall are due to host Hadleigh on Saturday when they will be looking to extend their run further and having seen his team come up from division two last year, Blackwell feels they are showing that they have benefited from time out of the top flight.

He added: "Of course division one is where we feel, as a club we should be.

"It was disappointing to get relegated but in a way it done us a lot of favours as it allowed us to develop some younger players.

"Our targets are still the same - we want to finish as high as possible, continue to play good cricket and enjoy it and at the moment we are so long may it continue."

Will Blackwell is expected to be unavailable for Coggeshall's game against Hadleigh on Saturday.
