WITHAM Town chairman Mark Nicholls has said that he doesn't expect the club's search for a new manager to be simple due to the high calibre of applications he has received for the post.

The deadline for applications has now passed to be the successor to Adam Flint after he departed as Witham boss to take over at Bostik League premier division side Bishop's Stortford last week and Town's board are now considering their next appointment.

Nicholls said last week that a major factor in appointing the next boss was that he wanted the new manager to continue the work that Flint had done in bringing homegrown young players through Witham's youth and reserve sides and into the first team in Bostik League division north.

With that in mind, the Town chairman said he had been impressed by the quality of those putting themselves forward and didn't expect it to be easy to make a final decision.

Nicholls said: "The deadline has now passed for applications and I will be sitting down with some of the board to sort out who will be getting interviews.

"To be fair, we have seen a very high standard of applicants and the real headache is now in picking the right one for the club as there are some very good pedigree applicants who would be ideal for what the club is trying to do.

"This will clearly roll into next week such is the standard of applications."

Meanwhile, Witham Town Football Club will be holding their annual general meeting on Monday, June 11.

The meeting will start at 7pm sharp at the Village Glass Stadium and all are welcome to attend.
