THE Braintree Club Sweep on Ash Grounds provided an insight into this Sunday's Kevin Chapman Memorial match on the same lake, pointing to a feeder match for best results.

John Daniels used a method feeder with various baits to land one carp, F1s and bream for a 36-4-0 winning total.

Simon White won section one with 13-2-0 of bream and skimmers on the pole and Bill Walker used both methods to amass 29-6-0 for a section two win.

Sunday's match is a sell out and will be on Ash grounds only.

The biggest problem at the moment is willow fluff, rendering some swims almost unfishable at times as it moves with the wind, but organisers are hoping it will be gone by the weekend.

The Braintree Club's Friday Sweep at Notley resulted in yet another win for Bob Reed with 15-4-0 of one carp, F1s and silvers.

Jim Loosley lost some fish in the reeds, but still landed enough for second with 11-10-0.

Several who fish the local commercial scene fished the 108 peg Daiwa Spring Classic Festival on Westwood Lakes in Lincolnshire last week.

Reece Hearn lost out last year, coming joint eighth but dropping to 11th on weight, missed out on the money.

This year he had two section wins and one second over the three days to finish in joint third with four points, but once again he lost out on weight and finished a very creditable sixth.

Andy Bennett won the event for the third year running, with three points and almost 600lbs in weight over the three days.
