A WIN in the ladies' and pairs competitions for the Swiss Bell got the home team off to a good start in their Braintree Open Darts League match against Notley Sports.

The triples were drawn and Swiss Bell claimed the overall honours, but wins for Dave Islip, Graham Chinnery and Merle Morris gave Notley the singles points.

Cressing B were hosts to Wethersfield Club and the visitors' Helen Jeggo and Emma Totmam got them off to a good start with a win in the ladies, before Cressing responded with a 2-1 win in the pairs and a win in the triples.

Paul Fletcher and Harry Smith's wins in the open singles extended Cressing's lead but with Kevin Taylor and Ray Grocutt winning the next two Wethersfield had a lifeline, however, Cressing took the next three for the singles and match wins.

Cressing A travelled to Wethersfield to play the Raiders and although the triples was drawn, the visitors won the ladies, had a 3-0 win in the pairs and took all seven singles games.

Following a draw in the ladies' match between the Angel and Eagle A, the Eagle went on to chalk up a 2-1 win in the pairs before a draw in the triples.

The first four singles saw honours shared but with the final three games going the Eagle's way, they had that competition and the match won.

The match between the Welsh Princess and Bocking Club saw the teams draw the ladies but with Bocking winning the pairs 2-1 followed by a win in the triples they had the advantage going into the singles.

With all seven games going Bocking's way, they had the singles and match won.

Braintree Football Club's Nicky Bewick and Lynn Kelly got their team off to a good start at Eagle B with a win in the ladies and their team followed that up with a 3-0 pairs win and a draw in the triples.

Opening singles wins for Mark Tilly and Rick Marshall saw the match points secured and the Football Club went on to secure the singles points as well.

High out shots were recorded by Ross Banham (147), Richard Pryke (117), and Barry Old, with a 137 and a 108.
