Following the departure of Adam Flint to join Bishop's Stortford, Witham Town are stepping up the hunt for their new boss.

Witham chairman Mark Nicholls said he had been "overwhelmed" by the early interest in the vacant Town position, but said the club were now opening the formal process of selecting their new manager.

It was announced on Saturday morning that Flint and assistant James Robinson were departing to take the reins at Bostik League premier division side Bishop's Stortford and Nicholls said the club wanted to make the right decision for their next step.

He said the incoming manager would be working within a limited budget at Witham in Bostik League division north and would have to continue the excellent work done by Flint in encouraging younger players from the club to progress through to first-team level.

Nicholls said: "With the dust now settled after the shock departure of Adam, we are now looking to the future and are starting the process of looking for a new manager.

"I have been overwhelmed by the interest shown already, especially as the position has not being advertised until now.

“I have already had more than 40 people making inquiries and am humbled by that.

"However, the new manager will work within a limited budget at Witham and will have to be prepared to encourage the youth platform that has been part of Witham's success over the last few seasons."

Applications for the position should be sent directly to Nicholls by email at mark.nicholls_1@btinternet.com and the closing date for applications is May 28.

Nicholls said he and the board would then be sitting down to review the applications before a final decision was made.
