NAGS Head Celtic had to stage a comeback as they faced Flitch United to keep the pressure on at the top of the premier division in the Braintree and North Essex Sunday League.

Second-placed Celtic were hosting Flitch, who were fourth and the away side got off to a great start by going 3-0 up with strikes from Ezra Drann, Rowen Drann and Luke Thornedyke.

However, that sparked Nags Head Celtic into a response and they fought back to win 5-3 and stay one point off the top.

Celtic had Charlie Palmer netting a brace, with one apiece from Sean Radley, Rory Bone and Stacey Dawes.

Leaders CFC Shalford stayed clear at the top with a 3-2 win at Tiptree Elite.

Tiptree had Carl Driver and Scott Simmons on target, while Shalford’s goals came from Hayden Mihlenstedt, Tyrone White and a Matt Smith penalty.

Witham United were beaten 5-1 at home by Western Arms, who had Kev Hawes scoring four goals and Dan Gage one.

In division one, second-placed Great Bardfield cut the gap on leaders Great Notley to four points as they beat third-placed Tiptree Jobserve 4-0 with strikes by George Sheath, Matthew Potter, Adam Daniels and Liam Quinn.

Great Notley saw their lead trimmed after being beaten 2-1 by Great Bradfords, who moved up to third with their victory. Ben Hindley scored for Great Notley, but James Chalk and Harry Mills goals won it for Great Bradfords.

Notley FC won 3-0 at home against Onley Arms after strikes from Matthew Weston and Darren Douglas and an own goal.

In division two, Great Bradford Reserves had Brandon Masheder and Matt Baker scoring as they drew 2-2 with Witham Nomads, who had Aiden Lizzimore and James Ambrose on target.

Tom Garnham, Gary Johnson and Stuart Marsh goals saw Manor Works to a 3-1 victory against TK Eagles, who had Andy Cheek scoring.

Braintree Iron ensured they would face CFC Shalford in the Gordon Snell Trophy final with a 3-0 semi-final win against Bocking Social.

In the Invitation Trophy Group A, Dunmow Rhodes fought back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Sporting 77 and there was a 7-2 win for Witham Swan as they hosted Panfield Bell in the Neil Horrocks Memorial Invitation Plate.
