A LACK of entries forced the Braintree Club to cancel their match on the Fennes Ash Grounds Lake and switch it to Notley instead last weekend.

The switch did mean that five members turned out and it was a good move for Pete Thompson, who hooked and landed two carp on his roach rig, the best being 7-8-0 to go with his silvers for a 13-12-0 winning total.

There were more silver fish caught as well and Jim Loosley won the silver fish pool with 3-10-8 of roach and small skimmers.

The method feeder gave Bob Reed his fourth consecutive win at Notley on Friday, although he left it late.

One smaller carp in the net put him into second spot, but an eight-pounder ten minutes from time lifted his weight to a winning 11-12-0 and pushed John Daniels back into second place once again with 8-12-0.

Loosley is becoming the silver fish king, as he again came out on top with 2-2-0.

The Braintree Sweep is on Hobbs Croft on Sunday and names should be given to Pete Thompson.
