BROOMFIELD secured a place in the Eseex Invitation Petanque League Knockout Cup final with a home win against division two winners Wethersfield Jetts.

In the triples, the home side of Nikki Parrish, Dave Bird and Trevor Blows hit top form from the start and the decisive shooting of Blows produced a 13-0 win.

In the singles, Blows sealed the win and the cup final place with a 13-9 win against Terry Whiting, but Eric Smith and Terry Williams took the pairs for Jetts with a 13-11 win against Parrish and Bird.

Broomfield FC now play The Cock in the final and there was further joy for them in league action as they claimed the win at the Swan, Little Totham they needed to pip Blackwater U3A to the division two runners-up spot.

The Swan won the triples 13-8, but Blows beat Darren Podger by the same score in the singles to leave everything resting on the pairs.

Swan took the first point but that was their only success as Bird and Parrish took the game 13-1.

The runners-up spot in division one was decided in favour of Three Elms G after their 2-1 win at rivals Billericay Meadows, while Thorley gave themselves a good chance of avoiding relegation with a 3-0 win over Bocking Boules.
