BRAINTREE Town have been handed a home draw in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The Iron will entertain Royston Town in their first outing in this year's competition on September 16.

Royston currently sit 12th in the Evo-Stik Southern League premier division, while Braintree are fifth in the Vanarama National League South.

The draw took place on Monday lunchtime, with Braintree's fellow Essex side Heybridge Swifts handed an away tie in the second qualifying round.

Swifts' reward for their seven-goal demolition of Arlesey Town in the first qualifying round on Saturday is a trip to Bostik League premier division side Met Police.

Maldon and Tiptree were also in the second qualifying round draw and will have a trip to Essex Senior League side FC Romania, however, the Jammers have to get through a first qualifying round replay first.

They drew 3-3 with Hayes and Yeading United last weekend and will have to face each other in a replay at the Evo-Stik Southern League east division side on Tuesday night to see who progresses.

The prize for sides winning second qualifying round is £4,500.
