WITH Bocking Poachers having won the Essex Invitation Petanque League division one title, the focus is now on the fight to avoid the two relegation places.

Five teams could still be relegated but Bocking Boules, the Cock and Thorley are at most risk.

Bocking Boules did well to beat Billericay Lakes 2-1 to move out of the bottom two, with David Adams taking the match-winning point in the singles.

Thorley dropped into the relegation zone after a 2-1 defeat at Billericay Meadows and the Cock are bottom after a 2-1 home defeat by Three Elms G.

Meanwhile, Wethersfield Jetts have won division two after the teams that could catch them all dropped points in the last round of games.

Wethersfield Hopps beat Bardfield 2-1, with Kim Speed taking the deciding singles 13-12.

They will need a big 3-0 win over the Jetts in their last game to overhaul Blackwater U3A, who currently hold second place.

Broomfield FC can also take second spot after a 2-1 win at Three Elms Q.

The away side won the triples 13-5 with Denise Blows playing well in only her second game and although Elms took the pairs 13-5, Trevor Blows sealed the match win with a 13-3 singles win.

Broomfield will need to win at the Swan, Little Totham, in their last game to move into the top two.
