WITHAM racing driver Will Stacey claimed another impressive race victory to extend his lead in the UK Lotus Elise Trophy Championship.

The talented 17-year-old won the second of his two races at Silverstone to make it four wins and four second-place finishes, from his eight races.

Stacey said: "It was another really enjoyable weekend at Silverstone, with some intense battling.

"It helps me extend my lead at the top with fastest lap and pole position to 55 points.

"I'm really happy with how the cars running thanks to the team, and I'm chuffed with my progress as this is my first full year of racing."

Stacey qualified on the full 3.6-mile Silverstone GP circuit in first place for the opening race by a full 1.5 seconds to multiple Lotus champion Craig Denman.

He got off to a good start but unfortunately lose the lead to a fast-starting Denman.

Stacey fought Denman for the lead, trading places most laps.

After a moment at Abbey, the Witham driver dropped back to third but through his sheer pace was able to eventually come across the line in a respectable second place.

Race two saw a reversed grid format with the top ten reversed, leading to Stacey starting ninth.

A blinding start saw Stacey make his way into the lead by turn four and build a three-second gap ahead of the fighting pack by the end of the first lap.

He did not look back and won the race by a clear five seconds, to extend his lead at the top.

Stacey has aspirations to make it into next year's British GT Championship.

Two teams have already approached him, with his ultimate aim to be on the Le Mans grid before the age of 20.

Stacey is next in action at Oulton Park on July 29.
