CRESSING A have been crowned Braintree Open Darts League champions.

The Retreat finished as runners-up but were singles champions with Cressing A runners-up.

Cressing A also won the pairs, with the Retreat runners-up.

And Cressing A were crowned triples champions ahead of runners-up Legend.

In the ladies, the Swiss Bell came out on top ahead of second-placed Braintree Football Club.

The league's winter presentation and KO finals night was held at Braintree Football Club.

In keeping with the standard of darts thrown throughout the season, there were some exceptional performances to round off a memorable season.

The evening started with the best of 3 x 1001 fours final between Cressings A's John Abbott, Bryan Willis, Mick Cain and Tony Bamsey and the Retreat's Vinnie Clark, Tom Roberts, Dave Benfield and Steve O'Neil.

The opening three darts from Cressings John Abbott saw a 100 shot which was followed by some nervous darts from both teams.

But with with Cressing's Abbott securing the first leg with a 32 out shot, they were ahead.

The second leg had both teams matching each others scores but with Cressing getting to the double first and Abbott hitting double four, they had the match won and were fours KO champions.

The best of 3 x 601 leg mixed pairs final had Braintree Football Club's Lynn Kelly and Matt Baker against the Swiss Bells pair of Bex Farmer and Barry Lynn.

The Swiss had the darts in the first leg and with a double top out shot were ahead.

The second leg saw the Swiss Bells Lynn hit a 180 which secured the lead through to the end of the match and with Farmer hitting double 8, the Swiss were mixed pairs champions.

The Ladies pairs had Braintree Football Club's Lynn Kelly and Dawn Kennedy up against the Swiss Bell's Bex Farmer and Jackie Brighton.

In the best of 5 x 601 match, the Football Club's duo secured the opening win.

However, the Swiss came back with a win in the second to level the match.

But with the Football Club's Kelly and Kennedy winning the next two games, they were the ladies pairs KO champions.

The Swiss Bell's Tony Holland and Barry Lynn were up against Cressings A's Sam and Peter Hayden in the men's pairs best of 5 x 601 leg final.

A 180 from Holland in the first leg gave the Swiss the advantage and in a high-scoring game, the Swiss hit their double to secure the first leg.

Cressing came back with a win in the second to level the match but with the Swiss winning the next two, they were crowned men's pairs KO champions.

The ladies' best of 7 x 501 leg singles final took place between the Football Club's Lynn Kelly and the Swiss Bell's Deb Webb.

The opener went to Kelly before Webb came back with a win in the second, to level the match.

However Webb's victory was to be her last as Kelly went on to win the next three legs to claim the ladies singles championship.

The final competition of the evening had the Swiss Bell's Barry Lynn and Cressings A's Bryan Willis contest the best of 9 x 501 leg match for the men's singles title.

A high-scoring match saw Lynn hit a 180 and Willis hit regular 80 plus scores.

However, that was not enough to stem Lynn's power play as he went onto win 5-0 and be crowned men's singles champion.
