IT was Jack who won the duel of the Parker siblings as he beat his brother Will to lift the 18 and under boys' Junior Cup at Braintree Tennis Club.

Eight boys - Jack Parker, Oscar Schul, Joshua Hamilton, Adam Gilchrist, Jules Hardy, William Parker, David Hooks and Sam Crow - competed in draining high temperatures.

They were placed in two round robin boxes with the top two from each group going through to a semi-final and then a final.

Despite the heat, some epic matches took place.

The top two from group one were William Parker and Oscar Schul and the group two winners were Jack Parker and Joshua Hamilton, with the two Parkers making it through to the final.

That saw Jack beat his brother 6-2 to claim the silverware.

The club's Red eight and under and Orange nine and under players also competed for Junior Cup titles.

The day started with the Reds as Alice Gilchrist, Dylan Parker, Jasper Goddard, Thomas Williams and Isabella Shaw competed.

All played in a round robin group with the top two players - Williams and Shaw - making it into the final.

With some long rallies and great shot making Shaw came through to secure a 10-8 win.

Meanwhile, 13 players contested for the orange title.

Orange players competing were: Lois Dunbar, Oliver and Alistair Mizon, Michael Toombs, Thomas Williams, Dylan Parker, Jasper Goddard, Isabella Shaw, William Rogers, Albert Orley, Arthur Holmes, Zack Munro and Finn Byrnes.

Players were grouped into three round robin boxes, with the top two from each box and the next best two progressing into the quarter-finals.

In the warm weather and with five players having their first ever matches all did themselves proud.

The heat on court was draining but after nearly three hours of play, the finalists were decided as Williams took on Rogers.

The two played their hearts out in the final with Rogers taking the title 10-6.

The club thanked Chris Gray, Matthew Austin and Jude Gray for helping to score the matches.
