THE second round of the Braintree Club's Evening Match Series at Notley was only attended by three anglers, due mainly to the wet and windy weather.

John Daniels had a decent evening's fishing, catching mainly F1s to win with 15-11-0.

It is hoped to have a better entry for the third round, but if not, the rest of the Series will be cancelled.

Friday's match was better attended, by eight members, but the fishing was poorer due to the water temperature dropping after the rain that had entered the lake.

Chris Orrin had one carp on the feeder and two on the pole to help him to an easy win with a 16-8-0 total.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 M Orrin 5-13-0, 2 P Thompson 2-12-0.

Sunday's re-arranged match also took place at Notley and with a stiff breeze, cold water and 13 entrants, it turned out to be as hard a match as expected, with silver fish in very short supply.

Gary Spong recorded yet another win on the venue, with the method feeder accounting for five carp and a match-winning weight of 24-9-0.

Mick Banks was on the opposite bank and landed four carp with silvers, but was left in second place with his 23-0-0.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 B Davies 6-8-0, 2 R Percival 17-2-0, 3 A Stebbing10-2-0.
