THE young players St Michael's Netball Club in Braintree have proved that size doesn't matter as they have dominated their groups in the Colchester Youth Netball League.

Despite being a small club with just 32 members, their teams have become league winners in the under-13s and under-12s and runners-up in the under-tens.

The club was started by Kristie Peacham, who is a PE teacher at St Michaels Primary School in Braintree, four years ago for pupils and former pupils of the Maple Avenue school and their three teams play in the Colchester league on Thursdays.

The St Michaels Legends are the under-13 league winners, while the St Michaels Saints have triumphed in the under-12s and the St Michaels Stars were under-tens runners-up.

Peacham said: "The success is down to the hard work and commitment that the girls put in at training and attending Thursday night matches all throughout the winter season in Colchester.

"I am proud of each and every one of them and they are well-deserved winners.

"St Michaels is such a small netball club with only 32 girls attending training at all times, so to be competing with big clubs and wining leagues is truly outstanding.

"I would like to thank parents for their commitment in getting the girls to the matches each week and I'm now looking forward to next season."
