BOCKING Poachers continue to lead the way in division one of the Essex Invitation Petanque League after beating local rivals Bocking BAH 3-0.
Thorley travelled to Bocking and came away with a 2-1 win over the Cock, whose only success came in the pairs as Graham Hill and Steve Tooley took a 13-0 win.
Billericay Meadows picked up a 2-1 win at Three Elms G.
In division two, a resounding 3-0 win for Blackwater U3A took them to the top of the league on points difference, but Three Elms Q are level on points after a 2-1 win at Bardfield.
Lloyd Glew took the match points with a 13-11 win in the singles.
At new club Broomfield, the home triple of Denise Blows, Trevor Blows and Nikki Parrish won the triples 13-3 against Wethersfield Hopps.
Kim Speed trailed 6-3 in the singles but took the game 13-6 for the Hopps.
In the doubles, Denise Blows and Parrish, were 10-0 down to Karen Wade and Carolyn Acland until a five brought them back into the game but Hopps secured the match 13-9.
Hopps' win saw them go joint top on points.
