THE 30th playing of the O’Shea-Rowe Challenge Trophy took place at Gosfield Lake Golf Club.
A total of 64 members in 16 teams battled to win the trophy in a Texas Scramble format with the teams equally divided between the two challengers.
When all the scores of each team were added, there were only five strokes difference in favour of Ralph Rowe’s teams over those of Mike O’Shea, meaning the shield would be engraved with one more win for Team Rowe.
The prize for the winning team was won by Colin Dinmore, Richard Beavis, Alan Furness and Paul Knight who had a net score of 57.7 strokes, narrowly defeating the second-placed team of Graham Barnard, John Marsh, Roy Milton and Peter Houghton that ended up with 58.2 strokes.
There was a tie for third place when the team of John Barrick, Craig Scolding, Peter Prince and Chris Wilks-Wiffen came in with 59.9 strokes to catch the first team out on the course of George Castle, Malachy Shields, Ralph Rowe and Scott Howarth.
