BRAINTREE Bullets BMX Club extended their lead in the East Anglian Regional Championships as 50 of their riders ventured to Peterborough for round two.

There were a number of great individual performances and strong podium finishes.

The first class win for the Bullets came in the six and unders as Charlie Long kept consistent through the day to claim victory from club-mate Seth Abbey in second.

The strong headwinds played into the Bullets' favour as the competition struggled with the conditions.

Keeping the club points tally rolling was Heath Thomas in the sevens as he dominated the class with a clean sheet of wins through all four of his races.

The next class win for the Bullets came from Joseph Long as he went unbeaten to take maximum points.

Ben Owen also made the top six in the class.

Cameron Parrish took the top step of the podium in the 12s, going unbeaten all day as club-mates Joseph Harris and Ewan Thomson gave chase.

In the semi-finals, both Harris and Thomson collided while in qualifying positions.

Parrish and Harris were also riding in the cruiser class as they competed in nine races across the day.

Up in the 17 to 24 class, Hayden Challis used his great first-straight speed to full effect as he took a solid class win.

In the final, Challis was battling with club-mate Syd Allen but Allen slid out through the first turn and rolled home in eighth.

Challis also took victory in the combined cruiser class, as he led out club-mate Dan Gilbert.

Also making podiums through the day were Eddie Cannons in the 12s, Alex Doree in the 14s, Heidi Gill and Lily Heighes in the eight-year girls, Molly Richardson and Chloe Ollett in the 11 to 12 girls, Molly Nice and Roxy Hinton in the 13-14 girls, Macey Hinton in the 15-16 girls, Lana Redgewell and Teresa Challis in the ladies' cruiser class.

Bringing the curtain down was the over-17 Payback class, with four Bullets among the fastest racers from across East Anglia.

Off the gate, a trio of Bullets led the pack, with Josh Butson, Taylor Andrews and Josh Wallis pulling clear.

Racing was tight and into the last berm, Andrews went for a move on Butson but couldn’t capitalise as he lost momentum.

Butson went untroubled to a great class win, with Wallis overtaking Andrews on the last straight to take second on the line.

Ollie Rowe battled in the pack to finish sixth.
