THE seventh and penultimate round of the Colne Valley Golf Club's Winter League saw Matt Holbrook and Simon Gugacz have the edge in a full field of 25 pairs that went up against each other in a greensomes stableford.
Brian Amos and Stuart Collingridge beat Jack Perfect-Brown and Russel Bell into third place on countback after both pairs finished on 39 points, while Alex Grimshaw and Thomas Murton’s 40 points was enough to see them second.
However, no-one could match the eventual winners as Holbrook and Gugacz took victory with 41 points.
With one round left to go before the top 16 pairs in the league head into the knockout rounds, the pairing of Perfect-Brown and Bell still lead the way with Murton and Grimshaw in second place.
