WITHAM Running Club's senior men secured a top-three finish at the 53-12 Cross-Country League round at Writtle.

The club fielded 39 runners in the men's and ladies' races and all ran well.

Witham's men came third, just three points in front of Great Bentley, while the women were fourth, three points behind Great Bentley.

They were also one of four teams to gain seven points from the combined men's and women's events as they successfully held on to their third place in the league.

There were also five Witham juniors who attended the 53-12 League round at Writtle College.

In 41st place overall was Joshua Beckerleg, who was also eighth in his age group, with Gosia Jagiello 62nd (sixth in age group), Kristyna Wood 80th (seventh in age group) and Ellie Beckerleg 93rd (fourth in age group).

Unfortunately Georgia Hooker felt poorly soon after the start and was not able to complete the race.
