THE unblemished home record of MALDON & TIPTREE was maintained with some comfort as the Jammers headed into 2017 still leading Ryman League division north.

No-one has gone to Park Drive and departed with a league point this season and it was no different when VCD Athletic made a visit as Maldon recorded their 14th straight win on home turf with a 3-0 victory.

The hosts dominated the opening half but had to wait until the 36th minute to make the breakthrough.

It came with a strike by Adam Mills, who was making his return after a suspension, and was followed two minutes later by a Liam Nash goal as he slotted home from the penalty spot.

With a healthy advantage at the break, the Jammers wrapped up the victory in the 56th minute when Tarryn Allarakhia broke into the VCD box and slammed the ball home to put the result beyond doubt.

Maldon will hope to extend their fine home record on Monday when they host Haringey Borough in the league at 3pm.

WITHAM TOWN are also in Bank Holiday action on Monday and head to Bowers and Pitsea (kick-off noon) looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at Norwich United on New Year's Eve.

It had been goalless at half-time, but the Norfolk side won it with two strikes in seven second-half minutes and a bad day was wrapped up for Witham when they had Michael Osei sent off in the 90th minute.

The honours in the local derby at North Road went to the home side as BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT beat HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS 2-1.

Regent had to come from behind to take the victory, though, after Adam Yusuff put Swifts ahead in the 32nd minute.

It wasn't a lead that lasted long, though, as Robbie Rees pulled the hosts level in the 38th minute and George Doyle scored their winner in the 65th minute.

Brightlingsea and Heybridge both return to action on Monday with 3pm kick-offs, with Regent hosting Wroxham at North Road and Swifts heading to Brentwood Town.
