STEVE Taylor triumphed on countback as Colne Valley Golf Club staged their men's and seniors Turkey Trot.

A total of 27 golfers took to the frozen fairways on a cold, sunny day.

After some good scoring in difficult conditions, three players returned 34 points.

Taylor edged Bruce Critchley into second place on countback to bag a £40 voucher for a local butchers, with Dennis Crossley third.

In the Saturday non-drawn event, scoring was much higher with Dennis Crossley taking the spoils with 44 points.

Roger Warren was second on 41 points, a point ahead of third-placed Colin Whybrew.

Colne Valley's seniors edition was one of the best supported events in recent years, with 48 players taking to the fairways. Mick Coe won with 37 points, beating Brian Samuel into second after he returned 35 points with Neil Lodge a point behind in third.

Meanwhile, 18 ladies took part in Colne Valley's monthly stableford.

Just four points separated the top three ladies, with Joan Silk winning with 36 points, two points ahead of runner-up Sue Gilbert.

Celia Larkham was third with 32 points.
