BOCKING Poachers marched on at the top of the Essex Invitation Petanque League as a 3-0 win over Wethersfield Hopps gave them a two-point lead over Billericay Meadows.
Kim Speed played a good singles for the Hopps but lost 13-1 to Pat Brown.
The Meadows had a 2-1 win over Bocking Spinners, who had Richard Tite, Christina Knights and Malcolm Smith winning he triples 13-3 victory.
Billericay Lakes came away from Bocking Boules with a 2-1 win which lifted them to third in the table, with Trevor Blows giving the hosts a consolation point with a 13-1 singles win.
Little Totham Swan beat Bocking Dyers, while there was a first 3-0 win for the Wethersfield Jetts as they travelled to Blackwater U3A.
Jetts took the triples 13-7, before Terry Williams and Terry Whiting combined to beat Ken Hardy and Ron Martin by the same score in the pairs and Eric Smith sealed maximum points with a 13-6 win over Brian Butcher.
