BRAINTREE'S Cable Racing team of driver Kevin Cable and his Witham passenger Guy Pawsey have finished the British Formula One Sidecar Championship season strongly.

They put in a solid performance in the final round of the competition, which took place on the 2.4-mile iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit.

Lying in 13th place in the championship, Cable and Pawsey have shown some good consistent form over the last few rounds on their impressive-looking Yamaha 1000cc powered sidecar.

With two ten-lap Saturday races with double points up for grabs on a circuit they know well, it was all to play for in front of a huge British Superbike crowd.

They made a good start in practice and qualifying and moved through the field to finish in a strong 13th place.

Both were looking forward to the second race when the weather played a big part.

With heavy rain and very poor light the race was postponed until the following morning, with it being reduced to eight laps.

Although the rain had stopped the circuit was really greasy but this did not stop the pair from having another strong race, finishing in a strong 11th place.

The strong end to their season saw them finish the last 13 out of 14 races, securing them a 13th place in the final championship table.

Cable said: “The conditions in race two were horrible with hardly any grip.

"We have been improving week after week and the results have shown that all the hard work is starting to pay off.

"I would like to thank Dean at Your Zone gym in Braintree for helping me get fitter for the racing.”

Pawsey added: “I have really enjoyed teaming up with Kevin again and the last few weeks have shown just how much improvements we have made.”

The duo have also thanked all of their sponsors, friends and family for the support that they have given them throughout the season.
