FORTY Stableford points proved the norm in both men’s competitions in favourable conditions at Braintree Golf Club.
Saturday’s Stableford was won by Ivan Patching, playing of 15 handicap, with 40 points, finishing just one ahead of Robert Kieffer (13) with Graeme Brown (15) third on 38.
Five-handicap James Bussell took the Sunday honours - again with 40 points - two ahead of Joseph Mason (18) while a countback on 37 points was needed to settle third spot in favour of Alan Simmons (9) ahead of Ian Davies (12).
A countback on 36 oints was also required to decide the seniors’ Arnold Cup, with David Yates (13) gaining the verdict over Andrew Little (12).
Third place went to Terry Barke (10), again on a countback, from David Bethell (16), both with 35.
The seniors’ Hiskey Cup produced a clear winner in Len Grindal (20), with 38 points, finishing two clear of runner-up Gordon Hewitt (17) with Ray Childs (25) third on 35.
The ladies' Daily Mail Foursomes went to Gillian Barke and Julie Wright with a score of 72.
They were well clear of Judith Owens and Tricia Stallwood on 76, with Diana Hughes and Ann Snow third on 76.5.
