WITHAM Rugby Club's veterans team had a victorious outing on their first-ever outing.
The club have launched a charity vets team called the Stags and they enjoyed a 53-22 win in their opening fixture at Braintree Vets.
The Stags' aim is to raise £2,000 per year for various charities and made a great start off the pitch as well as on it by raising more than £500 for charity during the day and evening.
On-the-field credit must go to man-of-the-match, Paul Cole, who scored an impressive six tries for the Stags.
Founder members Tony Davis, Aaron Coombs and Nick Redfern were delighted with the outcome both on and off the field.
Stags captain Coombs said: "A great day was had by all and we are already well on our way to raising our target of £2,000."
