BRAINTREE Rugby Club joint coach Brian Joslin was delighted with the professional job done by his side in a 79-5 Essex League division one B victory at Burnham on Crouch.

Despite the disparity between the squads, Braintree stuck to their task and ran in 13 tries, with the only negative coming with an injury to scrum-half Joss Adams.

Joslin said: “It looks on the face of it a bit of a mismatch but we can only play what is put in front of us.

“Everything we tried came off and we just blew Burnham away.

"The only down side was the injury to Joss but we hope he makes a speedy recovery.

“Jamie Prince made a huge impact when he came on and he’s a great asset to us after returning to the club following a spell at Hertford, and John Smillie was equally effective off the bench.

“We’re starting to get real strength in depth and the competition for places is only going to benefit the whole club.”

Braintree host Canvey Island on Saturday sitting second in Essex League division one B and Joslin is hoping his team can extend their good run against the island side at Robbs Wood.

He added: “Canvey are a good side and our games against them are always competitive, although we usually get the better of them at our place.

“We’ll be taking nothing for granted though and it’d be great to see a big crowd at Robbs Wood cheering the boys on.”
