BRAINTREE Golf Club’s hopes of reaching the final of the Leslie Wood Plate were dashed when they were beaten home and away by Stock Brook Manor.
The Billericay-based team won 4-1 on their home course and repeated the scoreline at Stisted to run up an 8-2 aggregate victory.
Meanwhile, domestically there were two stableford competitions at Braintree.
A countback on 35 points was needed to decide the winner of the Saturday event, with victory going to 18-handicap David Hammond.
Ivan Patching (15) was second, ahead of Paul Shrosbree (22).
There was a clear winner on Sunday, though, with Bill O’Riordan signing for 39 points off a handicap of 12.
A countback on 36 points was needed to decide second spot in favour of Ian Turner (9) with Roger George (10) third.
