THE two Wethersfield teams faced each other in the Braintree Open Darts League and it was the Raiders who came out winners in a close encounter.

A 2-1 win in the pairs followed by a draw in the triples and wins in the opening two singles put the Raiders in a strong position but with Wethersfield Club's Emma Totman and Steve Sheldrake winning the next two, they were back in the hunt.

Bruce Mawdsleys win in the fifth saw the advantage back with the Raiders and despite Kevin Taylor-Williams securing a win for the Club in the sixth, Andi Thomas wrapped things up for the Raiders.

The Wagon and Horses went down 2-1 in the pairs against Bocking Club before holding the visitors to a draw in the triples and sharing honours in the opening four singles, but Bocking won the remaining games for singles and overall successes.

Braintree Football Club opened with a 2-1 pairs win at Legends followed by a draw in the triples, but Tony Tatum's 2-0 win in the first singles game levelled the match score for the hosts and Chris Holden, Arran Holden and Chris Cook all recorded wins to secure the singles points for the home team.

But wins for Mark Tilley and Lynn Kelly winning their games for the Football Club, the match result came down to the last game where Ernie Holden triumphed 2-0 to give match points to Legends.

The Retreat took a 2-1 win in the pairs, a draw in the triples and wins in the opening three singles at Horse and Groom and even though Jackie Ryder's wi ngave the home side some hope of salvaging the match, the visitors claimed the remaining games they needed for singles and match honours.

The Eagle A beat Notley Sports 2-1 win in the pairs before a draw in the triples, before Notley won two of the opening three singles to level the match.

Paul Little and Barry Old won to put the Eagle back in front, but the final two games saw Notley's Stewart Thorogood and Mike Hyam both win to secure the singles for the visitors and earn an overall match draw.

Cressing's 3-0 win in the pairs followed by a draw in the triples gave them the advantage in their match against visitors the Swiss Bell and with all seven singles going the hosts' way, they had the match victory.

Tony Bamsey, Ashley King and Alan Dewar all hit 180s and high out shots were scored by Graham Hardy with 107, Kevin Taylor-Williams 100, and Bex Farmer with a 76.
