MULTI-EVENT ace Jess Hopkins was pleased to set a new personal best as she competed in individual disciplines for a change at the England Athletics Under-15/Under-17 Championships at Bedford.
The Witham athlete, who is ranked fifth in the UK for pentathlon at under-15s, competed in the shot putt and high jump.
In the shot putt, she threw a personal best of 12.86 metres, before coming second and in the high jump as she cleared 1.61m.
The Maltings Academy pupil said: "I was really happy with my performance because it was an improvement from the weekend before at the multi-events championships.
"Also, thanks to my amazing coaches Steve Mitchell and Sarah Besford and my teachers Miss Hicks and Mr gibbons who were sending messages of encouragement to me."
