AN awesome day's racing helped Braintree BMX Club shoot back to the top of the East Anglian Club points standings.

They have opened up a six-point lead at the top, following a superb display at the second round of the East Anglian BMX Championships at Royston.

The Bullets started the day back in fourth place but their riders went to work at taking points back and made up positions, with 13 individual class wins.

Seb Pantlin and Adam Gilbert got the ball rolling with a cruiser class win apiece, in the mixed nine-12 and 13-14 class. Pantlin did not drop a lap all day and was untroubled on his way to victory.

Up in the 17-29 cruiser class, Oli Cutmore and Shane Redgewell were untouchable as they went one-two in the final.

Heath Thomas also went unbeaten through his heats and the finals in the six and under class.

The pocket rocket only took up the sport six months ago but has made a massive impact on his class, with wins in the first two regional rounds.

In the eights, Freia Challis continues to show the boys a few tricks, dominating the class to take the win.

She went bar to bar with Norwich's Jared Hill throughout the final and showed great race craft for one so young, to take the victory.

Another rider working hard for his position was Henry Rowe, in the tens.

Rowe has a great style on the bike and after a strong first straight he headed for home, to take the win on the line.

After his win in the cruiser class, Adam Gilbert did the double in the 11-12s class.

He looked confident all day and won the final by around ten bike lengths.

The Bullets' big winner was Christian White, in the 17-24 class.

White is only 15 and was riding up two age groups, against strong competition.

The Shalford rider powered away from the start in all of his heats, qualifiers and the final and showed the competition a clean pair of wheels throughout the day.

The Superclass, which featured six Bullets in the final, was the final class on track.

Off the gate, it was Oli Cutmore who hit the front and headed for home with his five club-mates chasing him down to put the Bullets at the top of the points.

The Bullets' home club series starts in May, at their Deanery Hill track.
