BRAINTREE Shotokan Karate Club members brought home seven medals the sixth WUKF World Karate Championships.

They were competing as part of the England squad in Dublin against almost 2,300 competitors from all over the world.

Ethan Meader claimed a bronze medal in team rotation and also gold in his individuals, making him the world karate champion for his age category.

Adam Gibson won two bronze medals, one in team rotation and the other in individuals, while James Perkins took bronze in team rotation, Debbie Stone won bronze in team rotation and Charlie Lingard won bronze in individuals.

The club has thanked the companies who sponsored them - Cunnington Solicitors, Copybest (Essex) Ltd, Dale Hire Ltd, BT Fleet (employees), PPW Brokers Ltd, Eipsys Ltd, Q8 Aviation, Texo Scaffolding Ltd and Checkmate Fire Solutions.

Their support meant the club was able to purchase essential protective kit for the younger competitors and England track suits as well as covering squad training fees and competitor entrance fees.
