Braintree Bullets BMX Club fielded 40 riders at rounds three and four of the British BMX Series at Perry Park, in Birmingham, and celebrated some great personal achievements.

Freia Challis was the only female Bullet to make the finals and she dominated the seven to eight girls’ class as she took wins on both days of competition.

The youngest Bullet in the finals was Olly Cates, who made his first national final in the six and unders.

Also taking the class win was Seb Pantlin, in the nine to 12 cruiser class, as he went unbeaten through the first day’s racing.

Cam Parrish also made the final on the second day, finishing eighth.

Pantlin was favourite for the 12s class but a crash saw him down and out on day one, but he shook off the crash and came out all guns blazing on day two to stake his claim on the top step of the podium.

In the 11s, Adam Gilbert was among the top contenders for a finish in the finals.

He battled mid-pack through the finals and showed true grit as he turned on the speed down the last straight to take a pair of second-place finishes.

The 15s saw Christian White looking fast all weekend and it showed in his results as he took fifth place on both days, while Ollie Rowe also took to the finals in the 16s and rounded off his weekend with an eighth spot.

In the Veterans’ class, Bullets coach Julian Allen made his first A finals of the year and dug deep for a sixth on day one, before a seventh on day two.

The last of the Bullets to make the finals were Oli Cutmore and Taylor Andrews in the male athlete showcase Superclass.

The pair had ridden superbly to make the class finals and did the club proud as Cutmore rode to fifth while Andrews was seventh.

Cutmore also made the podium in 17 to 29 cruiser with a second and a third, just ahead of club-mate Shane Redgewell in sixth.
