Danny Cowley doesn't want his Braintree Town players to concern themselves with how their Vanarama National League play-off rivals are doing.
The Iron head to Wrexham today sitting fifth in the table following last weekend's win at Gateshead as the race for a top-five finish gets ever tighter.
Fans were keeping a close eye on the action from FC Halifax's game against Eastleigh in midweek as Eastleigh could have knocked Braintree out of the play-off spots with a win.
However, their draw meant the Iron held on to fifth place thanks to a better goal difference.
While Cowley's team will be looking for a positive performance in Wales today, though, Eastleigh and another side hoping for a play-off berth, Tranmere, will be facing each other.
So it could be another period of cross-checking for Braintree's supporters, but their manager wants to keep his players well clear of concerns about what others are doing during the run-in to the end of the regular season.
“You can’t control other results and we tell the boys not to put too much energy into it," he said.
“We all know there are so many permutations attached to each result involving sides in and around us as they all affect us in some way or another.
“We know we can’t finish lower than eighth now, but we can’t get caught up with what other teams are doing.”
