Danny Cowley doesn’t do dead rubbers so the Braintree Town manager wants to make sure his team don’t have any at the end of his first season in charge.

The Iron boss is keen not to have any games with nothing hanging on them so he wants them to stay in the race for the Vanarama National League play-offs until the final fixture.

“Let’s see how far we can take it,” said Cowley, who takes his team to Gateshead today after drawing with Forest Green Rovers and winning at Grimsby in the last week.

“My aim is for there to be no dead rubbers because I’m not very good in dead rubbers. We have to still be fighting in that Altrincham game on the final day.

“We are a team that fights and that’s a big part of our motivation.

“You are trying to out-run teams, out-work teams and out-fight teams and that has to be your motivation.”
