Danny Cowley has told the Braintree and Witham Times that he believes the addition of young Tottenham Hotspur striker Ryan Loft will give his Braintree Town side important options up front.

The 18-year-old Spurs forward is set to come into the Iron’s squad for their home game against Eastleigh on Saturday after joining on a work experience deal from the Premier League title-chasers.

Cowley explained that he had been keeping a close eye of Loft for a while and was delighted to be able to bring him in.

Speaking to the Braintree and Witham Times, Cowley said: “We’ve got a young boy, Ryan Loft, hopefully coming in from Tottenham.

“He’ll help us out and give us another forward option as we’ve only got two forwards really at the club at the minute.

“Tottenham have been great to us and given him to us for nothing, which is fantastic for us.

“We’re really pleased to have him, having watched him a lot.

“He’s 18, he’s physical, he’s strong, about six foot three and has fantastic movement ahead of the ball.

“He ahs obviosuly been coached very well and he’ll come in.

“It will be good experience for him.

“It gives us the option to play him alongside Cheeky or Marksey because he does have good mobility and movement ahead of the ball.

“As a manager, you want as many different options up your sleeve as possible and with games coming thick and fast you pick up niggles.

“On Saturday we had remy (Clerima) on the bench and he couldn’t even come on, so that’s where we are as a group.

“We’re a very small squad and bringing Ryan in will give us more depth.

“He trained with us last Thursday and it’s something we’ve been keen to do for a while.

“We watched him play for the (Tottenham) 18s and he got a hat-trick and he then backed it up with a goal in the 21s against Norwich, so he’s a good player.

“Tottenham’s kids are unbelieveable but he’s the one we felt was best suited to cope physically with this level.

“We’re hoping that he can come in for the weekend.”
