There was added frustration for Witham Town as they lost a seventh Ryman League division north game from their last eight and it was another single-goal defeat.

Their 1-0 loss to Bury Town was the fourth time from the last five of those losses that Witham had been undone by just one goal, but while manager Garry Kimble knows his side aren’t being turned over, he realises that they must get on the other side of results like these.

“We are doing alright but just need to be clinical,” he said.

“I can’t ask for more from the players as they are giving me everything but Lady Luck just hasn’t been with us.

“We seem to keep being beaten by just single goals, but you don’t get any points for close defeats.

“When I talk to supporters and the chairman, they keep saying that they know we aren’t far away but the pressure keeps building when you don’t get results.

“It’s frustrating as I know we could have got something out of that game against Bury.

“The performances in the last two games (the defeat by Bury and a 2-2 draw against Heybridge Swifts) have warranted more than one point from six.

“However, if the players keep giving me performances like that then we should be fine.

“It’s all about belief.

“They are working hard for each other and for myself and I can’t ask for any more.”

The only goal of the game against bury came midway through the second half when a low cross from the right was turned into the home net neatly by former Witham and Brightlingsea Regent player, Josh Mayhew.

Witham pushed for an equaliser, but it wouldn’t come and they ended the game with ten men as Tom Holdstock, who had come on as a substitute and was making his first appearance after joining on loan from Halstead, was sent off in the 90th minute.
