Witham Town manager Garry Kimble will be drilling into his players that they need to keep their concentration in tonight’s Ryman League division north game against Bury Town.

Kimble’s team ended a six-game losing run in the league with a 2-2 draw at fellow strugglers Heybridge Swifts last weekend and are now looking to get a much-needed three-point haul against Bury tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

However, he knows his players can’t afford mistakes like the ones that have cost them in recent weeks and will be emphasizing that point ahead of the game at the Village Glass Stadium.

“Bury are a decent oufit from the reports that we’ve had,” said Kimble.

“They seem to be quite direct and get balls in the box so we’ll have to be on our guard.

“We can’t give any silly fouls away and have to make sure that we defend as a unit, while making sure that we stick some of our own away.

“We have to show more grit and determination, like we did in the second half at Heybridge.

“I felt we played well then, but we have to make sure we start like that now.

“We have been putting in good performances but results have not been going our way in recent weeks.

“Perhaps there’s been a lack of concentration at times, but hopefully the point we took against Heybridge will give us a chance to kick on.

“We’ve got games in hand and they are important, so hopefully the weather will permit us to get them played and we can start moving back up the table.”

Full-back Mitch Hunter is set to be out for a couple of weeks after a recurrence of an ankle injury during the draw with Heybridge.
