Lake John’s Mark Johnson landed two double-figure carp, plus some bream from Hill and Black at the Fennes to win Braintree and Bocking Angling Society’s Sid Roberts Memorial match.

The match was fished by 42 anglers, but Johnson, who was on peg 20, triumphed with a total weight of 48-0-0.

Second, also on Hill and Black, with an all bream weight of 34-8-0 was John Shepard and Trevor Davies took third spot with a similar net on Ash Grounds peg seven as he weighed 34-4-0.

RESULTS: 4th T Harden 32-9-0, 5th D Carr 31-8-0; Silver Fish Pool: Gary Spong (BBAS) 21-8-0.

Sections (excluding top six): A - D Harden 26-14-0, B - K Howell (BBAS) 19-10-0, C - J Collop (Bills Tackle) 12-12-0, D - F.Rampley 23-8-0, E - B Oakley (Harwich) 12-10-0; (Hill and Black) F - M Mason 28-12-0, G - C Orrin (BBAS) 21-0-0, H - A Lee (Bills Tackle) 20-4-0.

The Braintree club Friday matches have seen a drop in weights overall, but one peg seems to be producing better than others.

The last match in October was a good example of this as Keith Nash, landed five small carp, plus silvers to win with 24-4-0, while the Orrins battled for second place as son Chris beat dad Mark with 9-9-0 to 9-0-0.

The first November match saw Jim Loosley win with a level 10-0-0, from Kevin Howell, who weighed 3-8-0.

Friday 13 was not unlucky for Howell, though, as he took the top spot with 7-9-0 of F1s and skimmers to push Bernard Huxter into second with his 5-11-0.

The Sunday Sweep at Notley resulted in a win for John Daniels with 18-8-0 of small carp and F1s from Pete Thompson, who had a similar catch in weighing 14-0-0.
