Richard Burgess’ hot streak continued as the Braintree Bowmen ace rewrote the club and Essex record books once more at the West Essex Bowmen’s Portsmouth shoot.

After equalling his Portsmouth Gents Barebow county record of 530 at the Braintree shoot at the start of the month, before going on to claim a new Double Portsmouth county record later in the day, Burgess wasn't resting on his laurels at the West Essex event.

After a last-minute entry, he was confident he could do well and didn’t disappoint.

In his first session, Burgess scored 537 to set a new club and county record for Portsmouth round and he then produced another great score in his second session to also better the Double Portsmouth record that he had set the week before.

It saw Burgess take top honours in the Gents’ Barebow event and there was also a podium finish for Paul Ramos in the Gents’ Recurve.

In the first session, Ramos scored 576 to take the session gold and he matched that score in the second to finish with the overall bronze medal.
