Billericay U3A hosted Onley Arms in a top of the table clash and inflicted a first Essex Invitation Petanque League defeat of the season.
Lorne Gibson, Beryl Gibson and Trevor Blows did take the triples 13-7, but Blows lost 13-11 in the singles and the Gibsons were beaten 13-3 in the pairs.
At the Swan in Little Totham, Bocking Spinners came away with a 3-0 win which tookes them level on points with the Onley Arms at the top of the table.
Richard Tite, Ian Ruffle and Christine Knights took the triples 13-4, before Malcolm Smith and Tite took the pairs 13-6 and Trevor Turner secured the match with a 13-3 win over Darren Podger.
The all-Three Elms clash saw a 3-0 win for the B team, while Blackwater U3A lost 2-1 at Thorley.
