While he is keen to see Essex Senior Cup progress this season, Garry Kimble admits that tonight’s third round tie at Grays Athletic won’t be the most important thing for Witham Town this week.

Kimble will take his Witham team to Aveley – where Grays are playing home games this season – tonight and will look to put out a competitive side.

However, he said he will have one eye on their Ryman League division north home game against Cray Wanderers at the weekend.

Witham are due to host the division north leaders on Saturday, so Kimble knows he may have to rest some members of his first-team squad.

“There will be a few changes as I have to have an eye on Saturday,” he said.

“I do want us to go through in the Essex Senior Cup, but the league is very much our bread and butter and we have to keep an eye on Saturday’s game.

“We have Cray Wanderers, who are flying at the top of the league and we must be ready for that.”
