Braintree Town manager Danny Cowley says Charlie Strutton will benefit from another loan spell as he continues his rehabilitation from ankle surgery earlier this year.

Cowley admitted to being frustrated that the Iron striker didn’t get more action during his recent loan with Hayes and Yeading and is hoping that he will see more in another period away from the Avanti Stadium.

“Charlie is just short of game time,” said Cowley.

“He played in the friendly against Billericay and he’s been to Hayes and Yeading where he had two fleeting sub appearances.

“We’re frustrated that he didn’t play more and I know he’s more frustrated than anyone.

“He just has to go and play football.

“He’s just desperate to play so getting him out on loan again is the plan.

“We are speaking to people all the time and getting the right option for him is important.

“We didn’t manage to do that with Hayes and Yeading, but it was unfortunate that they were really keen for Charlie and then had the opportunity to sign Josh Scott.

“That kind of blocked Charlie’s progress a bit.

“But I’m working really hard to get something sorted, hopefully in the week but we’re looking at Saturday by the latest.

“He needs to go out and get games.”

Meanwhile, Joe Maybanks has headed to Ryman League division north side Bury Town on loan.
