A meeting will be taking place at Braintree Town on Sunday to set up a new fundraising group to boost club coffers.

It will take place in the clubhouse at the Avanti Stadium at 2pm and is open to all Iron fans.

Club Life Member Barry Shepherd said the group that is being formed is hoping to raise £10,000 by Christmas, with the cash helping the Iron move forwards both on and off the pitch.

Shepherd said: “Positive thinking can get us to the Football League and that’s the way we have to think, so we’ve set out a target of £10,000 by Christmas.

“We’ve having this get-together at the club on Sunday to form a committee that will get us there.

“We know it will take some thinking outside the box, but we welcome any forward-thinking people to come along and get involved.”
