Gosfield Lake had a full entry for the prestigious Founders’ Trophy, the first trophy that was competed for at the club almost 30 years ago.

The weather was sunny and windy but play was completed without any rain.

A shotgun signalled the start and all tees were full as members hit their opening drives.

Following an exciting morning of golf, Glyn Robinson was victorious with a stableford score of 40 points, in spite of some excellent scores by Mark Francis in second place and Stephen Metson in third place, both with 39.

Robinson was presented with the trophy by club captain Malachy Shields.

Nearest the pin on the 17th was won by Shields and he presented the prize to himself, to great applause from the competitors who attended the ceremony.
