Dan Sparkes has his own targets this year, but the Braintree Town winger is putting team priorities before any personal goals.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to life working under Iron boss Danny Cowley, with some impressive performances that have brought him three goals so far and he is liking the role that he has been given.

Sparkes said: “The Gaffer (Cowley) knows I can get in pockets and turn and run at defenders.

“I’m an out and out winger and I like to stay wide, but if I can come inside and affect the game then I will because that’s where most of my goals have come from.

“He has given me a bit of freedom and with that freedom I’ve been able to get some goals so hopefully it continues.

“I set myself targets every year and goals are one of them.

“I’ve started quite well and I want to get more assists so I was pleased with the one I got against Aldershot.

“But it’s the team first before my own personal targets.”
