Remy Clerima feels Braintree Town fans will see a very different Iron side this year and expects them to be “dangerous” when the Vanarama National League season kicks-off next month.

The central defender has impressed in the early games of Braintree’s busy pre-season run and is enjoying working under the guidance of new boss Danny Cowley.

After the summer departure of fellow centre-half Alan Massey, Clerima said it is important to establish new partnerships at the back in the pre-season games, but feels they are already heading in a good direction for when the season starts.

“If we want to be strong at the back – and all over the pitch – everyone has to link up with the partners around them,” said the 25-year-old Frenchman.

“You must build a really strong partnership and that’s what we’re working on.

“There’s been me and Matty (Fry) in the middle, but all four of us at the back have to build and then it’s the same into midfield.

“When we come together as a team, I think we’re going to be really dangerous.

“These are just pre-season games that you’ve seen so far and we’re starting to get something, but during the season, I think it’s going to be interesting."

Braintree are due to host Southend United at Cressing Road tonight in a pre-season encounter (kick-off 7.45pm).
