Braintree Cricket Club captain Nick Butler wants his team to make sure the “blip” they suffered against Ipswich last weekend is kept in isolation.
With their sights firmly set on winning promotion from Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division two this year, Braintree know any setbacks, like their 46-run defeat by the Suffolk side, must be quickly backed up by strong results.
So even though they are still second in the table, they know a good showing is important when they head to Sudbury seconds today.
Butler said: “I said to the team before the season that we will lose games but we have to keep them isolated.
“It’s a long season and it’s a competitive division so we will have the odd couple of games go against us.
“I’m confident we will put things right this weekend.
“I’ve said it before, that if we play to our potential, we are a terrible match up for anyone in our division.
“It’s a blip but we are still second in the division and plan to get back to that top spot ASAP.”
