Braintree Boxing Club excelled at the Balham Club show in London when three of their aspiring boxers all put in excellent performances.

Noted puncher Joe Bryant scored his second successive stoppage victory as he overwhelmed his brave opponent – Neeq of Roehampton Boxing Club in the first round.

Bryant wasted no time in attacking his opponent and started at a furious pace, immediately landing a big right hand that sent Neeq spiralling backwards into the ropes.

The Braintree boxer followed this up with several hard punches including a strong uppercut and then a hard right hook which had the referee issuing a standing eight count.

Neeq was given the all-clear to continue but was unable to prevent Bryant’s next assault and forcing the referee to declare Bryant the winner by technical knockout.

Next up was talented 15-year-old Tyler Harvey, who faced Ardi of Impact ABC in another bout in his first season competing for Braintree.

In a difficult first round, the two traded punches, but Harvey landed a great combination which seemed to deflate Ardi and had him clinging on until the bell went.

Recognising that his opponent was hurt, Harvey picked the pace up in the second round and pressured Ardi by catching him with powerful body shots, before landing a thudding left hook to his head which forced the referee to stop the bout.

Finally, promising prospect Shane Pavitt was pitted against the more experienced and older Foreman, of Small Holdings ABC, in what turned out to be the bout of the night.

Pavitt started strongly but was unable to pin his quick and strong opponent down in the opening round. The second saw both utilising their technical ability and it ended even, but the final round demonstrated how much progress Pavitt has made this season as he completely dominated the exchanges.

Foreman was forced to go into survival mode to get through it, but at the final bell, Pavitt was unlucky to lose by one point.
